2 Peter 1: 3 – 4 “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”
In my Christian associations I have heard many people ask the question; “What is God’s purpose for my life? Or “Why am I here, what is my purpose”? Here in this passage the Apostle Peter shows us clearly God’s answer! By His divine power, He wants us to embrace His great and precious promises, and begin to partake of the His divine nature!
Are you caught up in the attitudes and behavior of this corrupt and dying world? Do you even consider that you can have God’s divine power to begin to live a godly life in moral purity and godly love.
One of the most wonderful promises and greatest truths is that God is calling us back to that place He first created man to be “in His image”,… to be “partakers of the divine nature” and to escape the corruption (death) that is in the world through lust. This reality should if we are willing, sweep us up and carry us to the highest aspirations for a godly life in which we might reflect His love and grace in the world.
