Jesus Said Mathew 4:1- 10 Continued

In the account of Jesus early ministry in Mathew 4 as we shared in last weeks posting, Satan was allowed to challenge Jesus while He was starving from 40 days of fasting. We read that Jesus turned to God’s word to answer Satan’s temptations.

In answer to the challenges from Satan to prove His deity (‘If you are the Son of God’) He answered two different ways;

Jesus said; “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God’”.  And…

Jesus said; “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’

Finally when He was offered all the kingdoms and all that could be given to a man in this world;

Jesus said;  “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”

With the challenges and temptations that we face in our world today we should learn from the words of God’s beloved Son. 1. Trust Gods word it is the very source of eternal life for those who believe more valuable than food for our mortal bodies. 2. Do not test God, but rather trust, and rely on Him. 3. Do not seek (or conform to) what the world and the prince of this world has to offer, but rather seek the Lord our God, worship and serve Him alone

 Romans 12:1 – 2
