What Christ/mas Should Mean

As we approach the Christ/mas “season” I am personally taking another look at our introduction to the Lord Jesus Christ through the gospels of Mathew, Mark, Luke and John. As we read these accounts of Christ each of them takes a slightly different approach to introducing Him to their readers, but each inspired gospel reveals the reality that our Creator God Himself came as our Savior, the man Christ Jesus, to redeem His creation (mankind) who is lost and condemned by sin. We should remember that Christ came as a child to become the Savior of all who are empty and without hope beyond this life.

When we read the gospels and consider what is revealed in these accounts, we should see clearly that the gift of Christ which so many around the world have misunderstood and tried to malign or diminish, is the complete gospel; not only His birth, but His life, His teachings, His physical death and resurrection.

His miraculous birth as a man was to give us the precious gift of His everlasting life in exchange for our death, and condemnation. Let us not be satisfied with a “season” of celebration but by faith embrace an eternal life of celebration and praise for what God has accomplished when He gave us His Son.

The Word Became Flesh (Fully God / Fully Man)

John Chapter 1:1 – 14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.

Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood   it.

He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

I pray that we will all realize that the most precious and wonderful gift that we can give another is the knowledge of God’s merciful love and forgiveness through the gracious gift of His Son, by celebrating and proclaiming the purpose of His life!      James 1:17
